Thinking of hanging up your cricket boots? What’s the best way to stay involved with the game? Why not become an Umpire? This is the course for you

Stages One and Two Umpire Education

Introduction to scoring IS

Stage one will give participants an overview of the basic laws and how to apply them and introduce the principles of field craft and match management. It gives the tools to enable a person to umpire a match at a basic recreational level

Stage two will give participants further knowledge and skills and builds on what was learnt during stage one. It looks beyond the basic laws, builds on field craft and further develops match management techniques as well as the concept of teamwork

To become a league umpire in South Yorkshire you will need to complete both stages.

Please register and pay online at ECB ACO using the following links

Stage One:

Stage Two:

The cost for both stages is £60

If both stages are booked at the same time stage two will be discounted to £10  (discount for stage two will be given once you have paid for stage one

Further umpire accreditation is available and will be explored further during the course

ECB ACO Occasional Umpire Resource

ECB ACO have release an online resource aimed at helping cricketers who might umpire 10 overs on a weekend do it better. This course was created to improve the match day experience of club cricketers who, in previous National Players surveys, had identified the quality of umpiring as an important element of game day satisfaction.

The course is completely free of charge, someone who is interested just has to register on the following link
